Forward Markets Commission (FMC) is planning to place a proposal before the ministry of consumer affairs to restructure the equity base of commodity exchanges. "The commodity exchanges should have an anchor investor who could drive the exchange towards maturity and perfection," said B C Khatua, chairman, Forward Markets Commission. He added that the proposed anchor investor need not be a single investor, and stake holders like market companies and warehouses could also participate in the proposal. The chairman called for greater participation of the physical market players in a bid to diversify the equity base of the exchanges. The commission is also expecting the ban on four commodities to be lifted before the planting season. |
