The annual supplement of the foreign trade policy for 2007-08, usually announced on the first working day of April, may be delayed by a week.

The delay is being attributed to the time being taken by the commerce and the finance ministries to arrive at a consensus over certain export promotion schemes.

"The two ministries have to agree on amendments to certain export promotion schemes. The new policy changes may be announced on April 10," said a government official.

The differences in opinions between the ministries pertain to policies like focus product and focus market, export promotion on capital goods, as well as export obligations on exporters.
