Development of important stations in public private partnership mode in the north include Chandigarh, New Delhi, Varanasi, Lucknow, Jaipur, Kanpur and Agra Central.
CII (Northern Region) today hailed Railway Budget's focus on improving infrastructure and passenger services and said that development of important stations in public private partnership mode in the north being Chandigarh, New Delhi, Varanasi, Lucknow, Jaipur, Kanpur and Agra Central would a go long way in providing world class facilities at these busy stations.
The Railway Budget 2009 is forward looking budget and northern region stands to benefit immensely. "We are happy with the focus on North, but would want more. With Chandigarh station now being developed as a world class station, we hope the connectivity will also increase. It is a city that services four states - Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and the UT itself. Hope the Railway Minister gives us non stop trains by next year," said spokesman of CII in a release issued here.
The development of Eastern Industrial Corridor along side the Eastern Freight Corridor would benefit many of the landlocked states of the northern region.
