Free Aviation Sector Of Bottlenecks: Cii

The operational bottlenecks and regulatory constraints in the aviation sector should be removed to ensure its sustainable growth, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has said.

The market should be allowed to dictate air service needs, and operators should be given adequate freedom to choose appropriate aircraft to match payload and sector distance requirements.

To bring about greater connectivity, CII feels regional air services, including air-taxi, charters or corporate aviation should be introduced. According to CII, one of the biggest challenges facing the aviation sector is the absence of regional connectivity because of fewer airports.

However, with more than 400 airports and airstrips, the country is in a position to leverage the existing infrastructure to achieve greater connectivity. Many of the airports can be used for general aviation with minimal expenditure and to connect towns with major markets, CII feels.
