 The 2002-2007 Exim policy unveiled by commerce minister  Murasoli Maran has also exempted technology park units from the net foreign exchange earnings as a percentage of exports criterion. Besides, the net foreign exchange earnings will be calculated for a period of five years, instead of the present system of one year.

 Removal of the net foreign exchange earnings as a percentage of exports condition and relaxation of the exports performance from the existing $100 million per annum or three times the value of the imports to $1 million or three times the value of exports, are viewed as a move to correct the inverted tariff structure for the finished goods manufacturing in the telecom and the Information Technology sector and boost the country
