Congress and the Left parties' activists staged a dharna in front of the sub-collector's office here, demanding the election commission conduct a special poll for voters who were denied their right to franchise "due to deletion of names" on Monday.

They urged the Election Commission to take steps to provide a fresh chance to the voters, who could not utilise their right yesterday.

"Since there is enough time left for the counting of votes, special booths can be arranged at selected places where these voters could cast their votes," they said.

APCC general secretary, P Sudhakar Reddy, Congress leader, Dronamraju Satyanaryana, CPI state council member, K Subbaraju, led the dharna.
