The free trade agreement (FTA) signed between India and Sri Lanka (SL) in May 2002 has not only resulted in a 23 per cent (Sri Lankan Rs 79,847 million) increase in Indian exports to the island nation, but also has taken the total trade throughput between the nations to a staggering SL Rs 96,000 million in 2002.
