Railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav today set an income target of Rs 20,000 crore for the next fiscal for Indian Railways asking railway workers to work hard to achieve it. "We earned a record Rs 13,000 crore in FY06. We have to work hard to earn Rs 20,000 crore during FY07", Yadav said at a conference of general managers here. Lauding the role played by railwaymen in the "turnaround", the railway minister asked general managers (GMs) to direct their efforts and utilise the organisation's strength to reduce the "operating ratio" of the railways to 77% from 83%. |
