Indians may see their incomes increase about 12 per cent in FY22 from the pre-pandemic period (2019-20), and a 17 per cent increase from FY21, if the national income is evenly divided among the country’s population.

The per capita income is projected to increase to Rs 1.50 lakh in FY22 from Rs 1.29 lakh in FY21, as per the Advance Estimates of National Income released by the government. In FY21, per capita income had dropped by 4 per cent to Rs 1.29 lakh from Rs 1.34 lakh, showcasing the plight of common man who bore the brunt of Covid-induced lockdown
