G R Aloria succeeds D J Pandian as chief secretary of Gujarat

One of the seniormost bureaucrats in the state, Aloria has served in several key positions including heading Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam

With the retirement of current chief secretary of Gujarat D J Pandian on Sunday, May 31, 2015,  the state government on Saturday appointed IAS officer G R Aloria for the post. A 1981-batch bureaucrat, Aloria currently serves as the additional chief secretary of Urban Development Department.

Aloria was officially appointed as the new chief secretary to Government of Gujarat with effect from May 31, 2015 in a notification issued on Saturday by the general administration department of the state government.

One of the seniormost bureaucrats in the state administration, Aloria has served in several key positions in the past including heading the Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited. Aloria has also served as secretary in the revenue department as well as head Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation in the past.
