Gujarat has set ambitious plans to take further leap in the country’s chemical sector as the government puts emphasize on supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the State’s chemical sector.
Gujarat Chemical Association (GCA) has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Indo-African Chamber of Commerce and Industries (IACCI) for promoting bilateral trade or information technology and mutual interests especially for SMEs. The MoU will also serve as a platform for promoting technology transfer, joint ventures and investment in the chemical sector. The MoU was signed at the two-day Global Chemical Leaders’ Summit 2010 (GCLS 2010) being held in Ahmedabad with the support of the Industrial Extension Bureau (iNDEXTb).
Saurabhbhai Patel, minister of state for industries, government of Gujarat, said, “Gujarat nearly constitutes 52% of the national chemical production. The exposition would be a great turning point for both the vendors and the marketers to source new chemical products build strategic alliance and strengthen them as well as anticipate emerging market trends.”
The summit will focus on the global competitiveness agenda in the chemicals, petrochemicals, agrochemicals, dyestuff and specialty chemicals sectors while green manufacturing services was given priority. Diplomats of 9 international missions from United Kingdom, South Africa, Ethiopia, Botswana, Kenya, Mozambique, Zambia, Ghana and Peru participated in the event on Friday.
