After losing the legal battle against National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) in Delhi High Court, Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) has been disallowed to sell its product under the name of 'Mother Dairy' in Delhi. |
Last week, the Delhi High Court restrained the Rs 3,600-crore GCMMF, that owns Amul brand, to market its products including milk, icecream and other milk products under the name of 'Mother diary' only in the capital. |
However, the federation in Gujarat has not yet received orders from the Delhi High Court. |
"It hardly affects the federation as our market share under the name of 'Mother Dairy' in Delhi is merely 0.1 per cent," said B M Vyas, GM, GCMMF. |
He further added that federation will take necessary steps if only they receives the orders from the Delhi High Court. |
"We are now focusing more on Amul rather than Mother Dairy. If court does not allow us to market products under Mother Dairy, we may continue marketing products under the name of Amul," said Vyas. |
However, the Court said that GCMMF had altered and introduced the trade name Mother Dairy in November 2004. |
The court also observed that both "" GCMMF and NDDB, were floated under the national schemes to give boost to the cooperative movements in rural India and they are more expected to work in harmony with each other without causing avoidable loss and infringement into the business of each other. |
