The generation too was a record as it exceeded the target of 9,750 mu by 14.7 per cent. Genco also achieved the highest PLF of 90.9 per cent with a gas power generation of 1,086 mu.

It was only the hydel generation which was hit due to poor inflows. The total hydel generation was only 764 mu against a target of 2,638 mu.

With the total installed capacity of 6,557 mw, the third highest in the country, APGenco accounted for 12,694 mu of the total system demand of 25,890 mu.

Briefing media persons, APGenco chairman and managing director J Parthasarathy said all the six units 150 mw each were commissioned a Srisailam Left Bank Power House, a unique fully underground power house in the country.

Genco had also completed all the works at Alimineti Madhava Reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme at Puttamgadi in Nalgonda district at a cost of Rs 269 crore as against the sanctioned Rs 430.32 crore, thus saving as much as Rs 161 crore, a 37.5 per cent.

On the mini-hydel power projects, Parthasarathy Genco had nine mini hydro stations with a capacity of 8 mw. He said they produced 12 mu last year and 4 mu so far during the current year.

Genco would commission another four mini hydro stations with a capacity of 4.15 mw during the current year on the branch canal of Sriram Sagar Project.

He further informed that as part of capacity addition programme, Genco was planning to construct 1x660 mw unit at VTPS, RPP stage-ii (2x210 mw), and 6x39 mw hydro station at Jurala.

As part of its anti-pollution efforts, Genco proposes a coal washery at Mahanadi Coal Fields for supply of washed coal to VTPS. It is estimated to cost around Rs 80 crore.

Due to the remedial measures taken up by Genco at Kinnerasani dam, which supplies water to Kothagudem Thermal Power Station, water was built upto a record full reservoir level of 407 feet.

With the present storage at 8.4 tmcft, with an additional storage capacity of 2.25 tmcft, Genco is in a position to spare 1 tmcft of water for irrigation in Khariff season.

The total turnover of Genco was expected to be around Rs 4,000 crore for the current year. It was Rs 2,050 crore for first half-year.

Parthasarathy added that about Rs 1,893 crore high-cost loans were swapped with low-cost loans, resulting in a saving of Rs 168 crore. Another Rs 1,493 crore is proposed for swapping by the fiscal end, saving an amount of Rs 170 crore.
