Geologists visit eruption site at Maharashtra

Experts from Geological Survey of India (GSI) visited the site at Murti village in Baramati taluka here yesterday.   

U S Rawat, director GSI, Pune, said that his team had carried out field tests on the molten substances that sprung out in the form of a "hot jet" near an electric poll and continued to ooz for two days over the weekend.    

 

Refusing to divulge details, the GSI director, however, clarified that the incident did not (not) warrant any panic and the phenomenon was unlikely to recur.    

According to offical sources and the Tahsildar of Baramati Sameer Shingate the eruption formed a 10 feet high heap on the spot creating scare among the locals.
