Get unorganised workers bill passed now: CPM

 Supported by his party colleague Basudeb Acharia, Pal said the Parliamentary Standing Committee had unanimously recommended several modifications to the bill, which proposed to provide social security to the unorganised workers.

  Pal and Acharia demanded that the legislation, as modified by the Standing Committee, be tabled and adopted in the ongoing Budget Session itself. MK member C Kuppusamy demanded immediate intervention by the Union Coal Ministry to resolve the problems raised by the contract workers of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation in Tamil Nadu saying they had been protesting over the issues for a long time.

 S K Kharaventhan (Congress) wanted a ban on the export of waste cotton to prevent lakhs of handloom workers and weavers from losing their jobs and livelihood.
