Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) would hold talks with the Central Government for an interim set up in Darjeeling hills ahead of the sixth round of tripartite talks in mid-May.
The GJM delegation, which would hold parleys with Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, would be headed by its leader Bimal Gurung. Gurung, who is leading the party for the first time, would arrive along with party General Secretary Roshan Giri and leaders Harka Bahadur Chhetri, Amar Lama and Amar Rai.
The GJM chief, who left for Delhi today, has made it clear that he would not budge an inch in demarcation of areas to be included in the interim arrangement which was proposed to be in place till December 31, 2011.
However, the GJM has climbed down from its earlier stand of including the entire Dooars and Terai in the plains, and has settled for only Gorkha-dominated areas. A GJM delegation was in New Delhi recently to discuss the interim arrangement.
Gurung had earlier claimed that the interim arrangement would be as good as a separate state of Gorkhaland. "Only the name will be different." Harka Bahadur Chhetri had also said that the GJM would in no case forego the demand for inclusion of Siliguri.
During the last official level talks in Delhi last month, West Bengal Home Secretary Ardhendu Sen had made it clear that inclusion of Siliguri or any other territory barring the three hill sub-divisions was "impractical, impossible and out of question".
