International Grains Council has revised the maize production forecast upward to 774 million tonnes for 2008-09 marketing year, which is less by 1.40 per cent compared to 785 million tonnes in the last year.
Earlier in July, the London-based organisation had pegged global maize output at 759 million tonnes.
Maize production in the US is likely to go up to 305 million tonnes due to improved weather conditions.
Prospects in China and Mexico are also seen bright, International Grains Council (IGC) said in its latest Grains Report.
IGC further said that the improved supply forecasts are reflected in an increase of seven million tonnes in projected world maize consumption to a record 789 million tonnes this year.
As far as world maize trade is concerned, it would be less by 12 million tonnes at 88 million tonnes than the last season.

"Larger crops in some countries, and greater competition from low-grade wheat and other feeds, will limit imports, although rising meat consumption in Latin America may increase maize demand there," the report said.
Meanwhile, in India, the sown area under maize is estimated to be less by 4.53 per cent at 69.5 million hectares during Kharif season, according to government data.
In 2007-08, the country had a bumper production at 19.31 million tonnes, it added.
