Goa is trying to make up the lost time in its irrigation projects. The state has shown keen interest to complete the much-awaited Tillari irrigation project, a joint project between Goa and Maharashtra. |
Reacting to this, chief minister Pratapsingh Rane said, "We have revived the project as we want water to irrigate our land." |
The chief minister had informed the state assembly that the project would be financed in a 75-25 ratio by Goa and Maharashtra. |
"Considerable progress has been made on the project which is on the border of both the states on the northern side," Rane said. |
According to reports, substantial progress has been made on the work on right bank main canal and Sanquelim branch canal. |
The Goa government has already paid Rs 50 crore to the Maharashtra government while it owes Rs 120.71 crore as cost of the project. |
In a written reply to the House, the chief minister had stated that from 2001 till date Rs 66.09 crore was spent on this project in the Goa region. |
Highest expenditure was done during 2005-06 during which Rs 17.57 was were spent." |
