Standard gold and ornaments were up by Rs 10 each to Rs 12,500 and Rs 12,350 per 10 grams respectively and sovereign gained Rs 25 at Rs 9,950 per piece of 8 grams.
In London, gold for immediate delivery rose $7 to $909.40 an ounce on speculation that rising commodity prices would spur demand from investors as a hedge against inflation.
It soared to $910.01 in early trade, the highest since April 23. Silver ready moved up by Rs 120 to Rs 23,870 per kg and weekly-based delivery by Rs 20 to Rs 23,570 per kg. Silver coins were also up by Rs 100 to Rs 26,800 for buying and Rs 26,900 for selling of 100 pieces.
