Carrying out an all-out attack on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the main Opposition party, has accused the government of sacrificing national interest to sustain in power and for the longevity of the government.
Even as the BJP attacked the PM, the party has summoned the Karnataka chief minister and other important members of the state government to Delhi to discuss the charges of corruption against B S Yeddyurappa.
Soon after the BJP’s core group meeting ended on Thursday evening, Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitley, said: “More and more skeletons are coming out of the 2G spectrum allocation scam. Earlier, the liability was only on former communications minister A Raja, but now PM’s personal culpability has increased. It is extremely serious. An alliance partner and its minister were arm-twisting the government and pricing in 2G spectrum allocation was kept out of the Cabinet and group of ministers (GoM) on the pressure of the coalition partner. The PM was abdicating in favour of minister and an ally.”
“The government has lot to answer. The government should not expect that such matter can be done by giving some accounts in front of the public accounts committee (PAC). It is only through a joint parliamentary committee that entire truth will come out and role of other people, including A Raja, will come out,” added Jaitley.
Meanwhile, seeing the growing attack on the Karnataka chief minister for his alleged role in transferring of government land in the name of his family members, senior leaders of the party have realised that their own house is not entirely clean.
“The core group has decided that the Karnataka chief minister and other important leaders will come to Delhi in the next one or two days to discuss the situation in the state,” Jaitley said.
