Commenting on state transport secretary Sumantra Choudhury's allegation against awarding tenders to put up mobile harbour cranes on berth 2 and 8 at Haldia to ABG Infralogistics and ABG Calcutta Container last month, the Union Shipping secretary A P V N Sharma claimed that he had no knowledge of the issue.

Choudhury is a member of the KoPT's board of trustees, the highest governing body of the port. ABG had won the contract beating Sical Logistics and Tata Steel. Sharma however added that his ministry would not take the allegation casually and would look into the issue. Meanwhile, R K Burman of the Haldia Dock Bacaho Committee claimed that it had sent a letter to the shipping secretary highlighting the issue.
