Eight persons, including a policeman, were killed in the city on Thursday as the crowds following the funeral procession of actor Rajkumar turned violent. "The police have rounded up 800 people. An inquiry is on. We have zeroed in on the people responsible for the violence and will name them in three days," Kumaraswamy told reporters here on Friday after a meeting with the police. |
He categorically denied that Rajkumar's fans were responsible for the violence. "It appears like the violence had some kind of support. The police have obtained leads," he added. |
To a question whether the violence was politically motivated, he replied: "At this juncture, I cannot say whether the violence was backed by politicians or incited by anti-social elements. The police will find out the truth." |
