The government has, in one of its quickest decisions, accepted in full the recommendations of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) on opening up the International Long Distance services sector.
The ministry of communications took just three days to accept the Trai recommendations issued on November 12 and significantly, without changing the guidelines or referring any specific issue back to the Authority for clarifications. Trai had suggested unlimited competition in the ILD segment and specified an annual revenue sharing of 15 per cent of the gross revenue.
