Govt aims to unveil Swarnim Gujarat with Bachchan film

Amitabh Bachchan will unveil the state's golden jubilee year celebration - the Swarnim Gujarat festival, on May 1 by featuring in an ad film which would promote brand Gujarat as a global tourist destination, if all goes as planned.

When contacted Kamlesh Patel, chairman of Gujarat Tourism Board (GTB) said, “We are in talks with Amitabh Bachchan for an ad campaign. It will take some more time for things to finalise.”

Sources familiar with the development said that the shooting for the campaign will be in March for which the actor has already given dates. The campaign would promote tourism activities in the state, especially coastal tourism and will project Gujarat as a global destination for tourists, sources added.

 

The Gujarat government has officially announced Bachchan as the state’s brand-ambassador.

According to state information department release, chief minister Narendra Modi wrote a letter to Bachchan approving his offer to become Gujarat’s brand ambassador. He thanked Bachchan for the impression of Gujarat that he highlighted.

During a special screening of his movie Paa for the chief minister, Bachchan had said that there a lot of goods things in Gujarat that should be promoted. “I am ready to give my voice and face for promotion of Gujarat tourism, " he said. Modi welcomed him to become brand ambassador for the state.

Bachchan penned a letter to Modi on 26th January in which he gave his consent to become Gujarat’s brand ambassador. “You have very graciously considered my appointment as brand ambassador for Gujarat. I accept this offer of yours with great humility. I hope we shall be able to work together for the betterment of Gujarat,” it stated.
