The Andhra Pradesh government has allotted 104 acres of land to Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited for construction of its depot at Nagole on the outskirts of the city.
Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited will be paying Rs 25 lakh per acre to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority, while the land-owners who agreed for the land acquisition would get developed plots of 1,000 sq yards at Uppal and Ramanathapur Bhagat villages.
The department of Municipal Administration and Urban Development issued an order to this effect on Saturday. In the GO, the government also approved allotment of 150 acres for Musi river-front development and conservation to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) for the same price.
The cost of developing land and layouts would be shared by Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited and HMWSSB in proportion to the land allotted to each of them, said TS Appa Rao, principal secretary, department of MA&UD.
The projet requires a total of 269 acres of land, of which 212 acres would be for three depots and 57 acres for parking and stations. It would cover three high-density traffic corridors over a 70-kilometre route.
