Govt announces sops for 158 high-tech items

The benefits will be available for exports made from August 15, 2013 onwards

The government today gave sops to 158 high-tech products from engineering, electronics and pharma sectors as was decided during the annual supplement to the Foreign Trade Policy 2009-2014 that was unveiled on April 18.

The benefits will be available for the exports made from August 15, 2013 onwards.

A task force was set up under the chairmanship of Rajiv Kher, additional secretary, Deparment of Commerce to identify the products that are eligible for such incentives which will be given at 2% of the FOB value of exports.

“It has been decided to include 158 products under Focus Product Scheme (FPS) for incentive at 2% of the FOB value of exports,” a statement issued by the commerce and industry ministry said here today.
 

The sectors were identified after a meeting between commerce and industry minister Anand Sharma with business chambers and export promotion councils on July 1.
