As a measure of caution ahead of the Ayodhya verdict, the government on Wednesday banned all bulk short message services (SMS) and multimedia messaging services (MMS) for the next three days with immediate effect.
In an official statement, the communications and IT ministry said it had issued orders, in consultation with the Ministry of Home Affairs, to all mobile service providers for banning all bulk SMSes and MMSes in all circles for the next three days with immediate effect.
The development came two days ahead of the verdict by the Allahabad High Court on the title suit of Ramjanambhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute, due on Friday.
