With milk prices rising by almost 20 per cent in the retail markets in the last one year due to demand- supply mismatch, the government today banned exports of skimmed milk powder and its products to improve domestic supplies.

Export of casein and its products, a protein derivative of milk, has also been banned, the commerce ministry said in a notification. India’s milk production grew by 3.7 per cent annually in the last 10 years.
