More than a month after the unceremonious exit of the controversial oil regulator V K Sibal, the government has begun scouting for a new head of the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH).
The government yesterday invited applications for the post of Director General in DGH-- the upstream nodal agency.
It issued advertisements seeking Indian nationals with at least 25 years of experience in upstream oil sector and of age not exceeding 55 years. Applications are to be sent to the Petroleum Ministry by January 13, the advertisements stated.
On October 31, the government appointed SK Srivastava, former deputy director general, DGH as the interim head of DGH after CBI accused Sibal of colluding with private parties during his term as oil regulator and sought government permission for a thorough investigation.
Although he denied any wrongdoing, Sibal was denied an extension as head of India's upstream nodal agency till his superannuation age of 60 years in January 2012.
The government is looking for an engineering graduate or a person with Master's Degree in science, geology, geo-physics or petroleum engineering.
Going by the eligibility criteria the person should have "at least 25 years in upstream oil sector with direct involvement in planning, execution and monitoring of projects and in exploration and development plans for oil and natural gas, of which at least three years should be in the scale of a joint secretary to the government of India or equivalent".
