The government on Monday said it was examining the investigation report into Walmart lobbying that had rocked the winter session of Parliament last year. The report, prepared by Mukul Mudgal, former chief justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, would be presented in the monsoon session of Parliament, along with comments and observations, said Corporate Affairs Minister Sachin Pilot. The report was presented to the corporate affairs ministry on Saturday. It is understood the report has stated there was no adequate evidence to suggest Walmart was involved in any unlawful activity in India. It is also learnt Mudgal has recommended making corporate lobbying legal in India. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs is handling the administrative issues related to the probe by Mudgal. Officials of the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion are also part of the meetings to discuss the Walmart lobbying issue.
