Govt halts further divestment of Balco

 The shareholders agreement and the share purchase agreement was signed between the government, Balco and Sterlite. In March 2004, Sterlite sent a call notice for acquiring the remaining 49% of Balco shares alongwith a cheque of Rs 1098 crore.
