Even as the deadlock in Parliament continued for the second consecutive day today, the government is in no mood to allow voting on the issue of price rise as demanded by the Opposition.
Parliament sources said that the government will not allow the issue of price rise being taken up for discussion in the Lok Sabha under Rule 184 which entails voting.
They said there is hardly any difference between an adjournment motion which is a censure against the government and Rule 184, which is disapproval, both of which entail voting after discussion.
After the adjournment motion on price rise was rejected by the Speaker yesterday, the BJP today pushed for a discussion on the issue under Rule 184.
The government sources said they were willing to talk to the Opposition leaders to break the deadlock in Parliament but so far there has been no communication.
The Business Advisory Committee of the Rajya Sabha, which met today, only discussed time allocation in the Upper House and the issue of price rise did not come up for discussion, the sources added.
