The government is likely to extend the use of old currency notes  at some places by a week to 10 days.

The Opposition is continuously hitting out at the Narendra Modi government over the implementation of the demonetisation move.

According to CNN-News18, old currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denomination could be used at petrol pumps, pharmacies.

Sources said more relief was likely for farmers and the agricultural sector. The announcement is likely to be made by the evening, the sources added.

The deadline for use of his window was expiring on November 24.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a late night meeting on Wednesday with Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and senior leaders and reviewed the situation.
