Govt may hike FDI in cable network firms

 This decision is based on the fact that the cable networks are considered to be a part of the telecom infrastructure.

 According to a senior government official, the proposal is also part of a broader policy framework in the cable and satellite broadcasting sector to attract higher foreign investment.

 However, the decision on this is likely to be taken together by the information and broadcasting ministry and the telecommunications ministry.
