The Karnataka government is organising a special campaign to create awareness among people about implementation of the Karnataka Guarantee of Services to Citizen Act 2011. The pilot project is being launched from April 1, 2012 in Bidar, Chitradurga, Dharwad and Udupi districts.

The Act is aimed at benefiting people by providing easy and hassle-free access to government services and eliminating corruption in the delivery of public services. The act provides for time-bound delivery of government services. Under the act, public servants are accountable for delay in providing services and the public is entitled for monetary compensation. It also provides for redressal of public grievances and provides for several layers of appeal.

The objective of this drive is to create awareness, generate interest and educate people about the Karnataka Guarantee of Services to Citizen Act and elicit public participation for ensuring the success of government of Karnataka’s time bound delivery of services and to create a mass movement for this programme, the government said in a statement.

“The Act is envisaged to become a public movement and therefore people should take ownership for this movement. It is therefore most appropriate that people give it a name, logo and an attractive slogan,” the statement said.

A competition has been thrown open to general public to suggest a name for the campaign, create a logo for the campaign and coin a slogan for the campaign.

An award will be given to selected entries. People willing to participate may send their entries on plain paper along with a bio-data. Entry forms may be sent or may be reached in person to The Director, Department of Information, No. 17, Infantry Road, Bangalaore - 560 001 on or before March 10, 2012.
