Govt ready to hear Vodafone's concerns, says Sibal

The minister also said 2013 will be a different year for telecom sector

The Government is ready to “collaborate” with telecom service provider Vodafone and look into its concerns on the tax issues, Kapil Sibal, minister of telecommunications, said after releasing Vodafone’s sustainability report 2012, here today.

“I can assure Martin Pieters (Vodafone India MD and CEO) and other telecom operators that the government is very, serious about the concerns they have expressed, and I can give an assurance today that 2013 will be a different year for the telecom sector,” Sibal said.

The company today issued “Footprints II”, the second edition of its sustainability report that gives details on Vodafone’s key social initiatives in the areas of pursuits, people, products, processes and partnerships.

 

Vodafone has been focusing on waste management, creating eco-friendly buildings, energy efficient data centres and green networks, people’s health, safety, well being and talent management.

The company has products like M2M solutions, adult learning programme called m-Education, m-Health etc to help communities.
