In order to raise awareness about consumer rights, the Maharashtra government has roped in the services of Jeevanvidya Mission founded by social reformer and philosopher late Sadguru Wamanrao Pai.

Taking note of the organisation and its work, the Food and Civil Supplies department has decided to undertake consumer awareness campaign in association with Jeevanvidya Mission.

The department, in a GR issued here on Thursday, stated that every person in the society has to be considered as a consumer and should be made aware of his or her rights through which social evils in the society can be curbed.

It added that Jeevanvidya Mission is conducting awareness programs in the society by inculcating good educational values and social work.

The government will provide booklets, documentaries, videos, hoardings, banners and meeting halls undertaken through its consumer awareness campaign to the Jeevanvidya Mission to carry out consumer awareness programs.

The Jeevanvidya Mission besides being engaged in educational and social sector activities, it has also been conducting workshops in the Mantralaya, Khadi Gram Udyog, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and various other government and semi-government organisations.
