West Bengal government today sent to the Election Commission an inquiry report against state Finance Minister Asim Dasgupta for his alleged violation of the EC model code of conduct. Chief Secretary Samar Ghosh said the report prepared by state Finance Secretary C M Bachawat was passed-on to the EC today through the office of the state chief electoral officer. Dasgupta, an important functionary in the Buddhadev Bhattacharjee cabinet, has been charged with signing several official files and even issuing instructions at his Writers' Buildings chamber even after the Election Commission's model code of conduct came into force on March 1. EC asked the state chief secretary on March 3 to inquire into the complaint, filed by TMC leader Subrata Bakshi.
