The government today revised its target of power capacity addition to 90,000 Mw in the 11th five-year plan (2007-12), from earlier estimate of 78,577 Mw.

"By the year 2012, we will add 90,000 Mw of power," Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde told reporters here.

Coal shortage has led to slow power capacity addition in the country, "We could have produced more electricity had there been no coal shortage," Power Secretary Anil Razdan said.
