In order to boost the rural economy of Telangana and Rayalaseema, the central government will promote scampi (fresh water-cultured shrimp) cultivation in these backward regions of the state.
As part of the increasing the exports of marine products, the central government is contemplating a new Deep Sea Fishing Act, which will be announced soon.
Addressing press persons here today, Ch Vidyasagar Rao, the union minister of state for commerce and industry, said that the centre had taken necessary measures to expand scampi cultivation in the state.
