Govt to import edible oil, pulses

 "We will be importing 15 lakh tonnes of pulses and we have placed an order 11.86 lakh tonnes before March 31," he said adding that the government has already abolished import duty on edible oils and pulses.

Pawar sought to give a new dimension to the soaring prices despite satisfactory foodgrains production, saying that the purchasing power of poor people had increased due to welfare schemes like NREGA and therefore the demand had also gone up tremendously.
