The Naveen Patnaik government in Orissa has decided to go for account payment to all the farmers selling paddy during the ensuing procurement season.
“The government has decided to make account payment to the farmers to avoid any fraud or distress sale of paddy”, said state’s commissioner-cum secretary, food supply and consumer welfare department, AK Meena.
He was here to discuss with the district collectors and civil supply officers of the southern Orissa districts on the paddy procurement policy for this year.
Keeping in view the government decision, the Orissa State Cooperative Bank (OSCB) has decided to launch a 45-day campaign across the state appealing the farmers to open no-frill savings accounts with the bank.
