The government will resolve all the differences related to the new telecom policy (NTP-11) by the end of August this year.
“By August, we will have all issues decided for policy. We are holding a number of round table discussions with the industry for this,” Communications and IT Minister Kapil Sibal said.
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is in the process of formulating a new telecom policy after a decade. It will involve new merger and acquisition rules, spectrum allotment, pricing and other things.
However, there are number of differences among the industry players on many issues.
Sibal has already had a round of discussion with all the service providers to bring a consensus on the policy issues. The minister held a round table on Thursday with the players on domestic manufacturing.
