Corporate Affairs Minister Prem Chand Gupta today said the government will take a view on handing over the probe into Satyam fraud case to the CBI if Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy has written to the PMO in this regard.

"The government will take a view on it, if it is so (if the Chief minister has written a letter to the PM)," Gupta told reporters when asked whether the government is considering a CBI inquiry into the Satyam fraud.

Open to a CBI probe into the Satyam fraud, Reddy today told Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that the IT firm resorted to "embellishment" of bank accounts for more than seven years.

"Investigation has so far revealed embellishment of bank accounts by the Company for more than seven years to impress the clients within the country and overseas...

"Our government would welcome making over the case to CBI, if deemed appropriate," Reddy said in a letter to the Prime Minister.
