The Tamil Nadu government will study the measures adopted by the Left Front governments in Kerala and West Bengal to prevent the entry of big corporates like Reliance into retail trade and follow the same methods.

This was decided in a review meeting of co-operation and food departments by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, an official release said today.

It was also decided to constitute an `Election Commission for Co-operatives' to conduct the co-operative elections.

The government decided to expand the free gas scheme by increasing the number of beneficiaries under the scheme this year from five lakh families to 10 lakh families.
