Anational level task force set up by the Marine Products Export Development Authority (Mpeda) has submitted the guidelines on green certification of ornamental fish to latter’s chairman Leena Nair.
Green certification is given to a product to ensure its environmental and socio-economic sustainability. It ensures product quality, safety and traceability.
The seven-member team studied collection of ornamental fish, handling, and facilities needed for export and import among others, an Mpeda release said.
The issue of geographical indication of species has also been addressed.
