The Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) chairman Asok Basak told mediapersons that by 3.30 pm in the day nearly 50 per cent of the power supply (2750 MW) had been restored. The power failure had left the entire western Maharashtra region powerless, with parts of Marthwada and Vidarbha also partially affected.
The Koyna and Uran stations being pressed into service to restore power. The Uran generating station tripped immediately after being brought on line the first time causing a further delay in restoration operations.
