In an attempt to expedite and clear cases registered against co-operative banks in Gujarat, the state government is planning to set up a special court to specifically handle these cases.
The state co-operation and protocol department in co-ordination with the state law department is planning to amend the existing Co-operative Act, which will give it more power to act against the errant directors of co-operative banks.
However, the state government will also require the permission of the Gujarat High Court to set up the special court.
