Guj to get Fluoride mitigation centre

The union rural development ministry has decided to set up a Fluoride Mitigation Centre in Gandhinagar in Gujarat during the 12th Five Year Plan.

In a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, minister for rural development and drinking water and sanitation, Jairam Ramesh informed that the Centre has already approved the proposal to set up the centre in Gujarat.

The proposed regional centre for fluoride and fluorosis management will be set up at Gandhinagar and will assist the northern states of the country in providing solutions to fluoride contamination in drinking water and fluorosis management.

 

"Government of India has constituted an expert committee under chairmanship of director, National Environmental Engineering Research Institute, Nagpur to finalize the terms of reference and detailed project report," Ramesh infromed.
