Gujarat budget provides Rs 341cr tax relief

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, while presenting the state budget for 2006-07, announced tax reliefs of Rs 341crore.

Modi announced major reliefs in electricity duty, stamp duty and entertainment tax. He also declared that value added tax (VAT) will be introduced from April 1, 2006 in Gujarat.

Modi did not porpose any new tax in the budget, and he also did not say anything about octroi.
